Hi! I’m Alina De Allende and I’m a sophomore at Segerstrom. I’m 15 years old. My goal is to become an Aerospace engineer and work for NASA or a biomedical engineer. Since I was little I loved the outdoors and when I looked at the night sky it always made me wonder what was out there or it just generally made me happy looking at the stars, especially the moon hence my interest in NASA. I am fluent in English and Spanish. In my free time I love watching movies, especially Star Wars and sometimes I occasionally enjoy a documentary 🙂

Hello everyone! My name is Ariane (air-ri-yen) De Guzman. I am a 12th grader who barely turned 18 years old on December 26. I live in Santa Ana, California. I started pursuing engineering as a prospective career at the end of my sophomore year of high school in hopes of majoring in mechanical engineering in college. I eventually want to become a rollercoaster/ ride engineer for Disney Imagineering. Aside from engineering, I enjoy baking sweets (I mostly bake cookies) and watching Netflix. I also am an avid runner and have been running in cross country and track since 6th grade. I look forward to working with you all 🙂

Hello everyone!! My name is Arni Ines and I’m 17. I was born on September 1, 2004 in the city of Santa Monica. I’m a junior that attends Segerstrom High School. I’ve been in an engineering class since middle school so I have about 4 ½ years of experience with engineering.

Hi everyone, my name is Ashley Lam.  Happy New Year!  I’m currently 16 years old and a junior (11th grade) in high school. During my free time, I enjoy baking, shopping, spending time with family and friends, and listening to music.  One of my favorite artists is Ariane Grande, as I love how upbeat her music is along with how the lyrics are relatable.  I joined the JPL Open Source Rover International Project, because I’m interested in pursuing bioengineering in college while meeting like-minded students who are willing to go above and beyond to challenge themselves.  I hope to attend UC Berkeley or Johns Hopkins University for my undergraduate degree and eventually go into the research and development sector for medical devices.  I’m looking forward to meeting everyone soon! 😀

Hi, I am Avery Ngo, and I am a senior at Segerstrom. I enjoy hot yoga, biking, swimming, running, and hiking. I am participating in this club because I wanted to expand my knowledge of computer science and robotics.

My name is Bryant Nguyen, I am 16 years old and was born on November 4th, 2005. I am Vietnamese but was born in California. I took this program to get a deeper understanding because I want to be an aerospace engineer one day. I am in the varsity swimming team at Segerstrom. I enjoy watching TV shows such as One Piece and Bleach.

My name is Carlos Montoya and I was born on March 30th, 2005. I was born in a city in California named Garden Grove but later we moved to Santa Ana. My first time joining an engineering class was in Middleschool. Ever since then I knew I wanted to do something with Engineering. Right now I am enjoying Aerospace but I also like Mechanical Engineering. My dream job is to work at SpaceX or maybe even NASA.

Hello everyone! I am Damon Le, and I am currently a junior (11th grade) at Segerstrom. For the future, I am interested in becoming a possible civil or environmental engineer, graduating from a 4-year college in Southern California. Some dream schools I would like to attend would be UCLA, CalTech, and Cal Poly Pomona. I come from a Vietnamese background, as my parents were immigrants from Vietnam. However, I was born in the United States in 2006. A goal for myself this year is to be more prepared for anything, whether it’s school or sports. In my free time, I like to spend my time either relaxing, watching YouTube, or playing tennis to stay active during these times.

Hello! My name is Dev, I am 15 and a high school sophomore. I enjoy playing lacrosse, studying, and playing video games. I play lacrosse at school, and some roller hockey & tennis outside of school. Hello! My name is Travis. I’m 16 and currently a Junior (11th) at Segerstrom High School. I was born in December 2005. I live in Santa Ana, California. In my free time, I like to play games on my computer and listen to music. In the future, I plan on majoring in a type of engineering, such as mechanical or environmental engineering.

I am currently in my 16th year of Science & Engineering teaching at Segerstrom High School in Santa Ana, CA. Over the past 8 years, I have been developing our Aerospace Engineering Pathway, which consists of 3 successive Engineering courses designed to better prepare students for STEM majors at the college level.  In addition, I recently added a Computer Science teaching certificate to better incorporate CompSci into my Engineering courses.  Beyond Engineering courses in the school day, I advise an after-school club titled “Femineers”, which support young women in STEM.

When I am not teaching, I am busy raising 2 young daughters and getting outside in nature as much as possible. I have lived in Southern California most of my life, where I am now raising my young family. My favorite activities include camping, backpacking, surfing, mountain biking and climbing.  One long term goal of mine is to eventually become an all-around mountaineer, capable of summiting mountains such as Mt. Rainier and Mt. Shasta.  Some favorite locations for travel in the United States include Olympic National Park, Lake Tahoe and Joshua Tree National Park.

I was born and raised in Pavia.I was studying Foreign languages and Linguistics at the University of Pavia, when I moved to California at the age of 21. I pursued my degree and master at UCI and I have been teaching French at Segerstrom HIgh School since 2006.

I live in Costa Mesa with my husband and my three kids, Luca (13), Alessia (11), and Leonardo (3). We spend the summer,and sometimes winter break, in Italy every year . I miss Italy and my family more and more but I love life in Southern California!

I taught English at Segerstrom High School for 6 years, and now I’m the English Language Development Coordinator at the school. In this role, I work with our English Learner students, as well as a variety of other projects on campus like student testing, our writing program, and educational software. Before going into teaching, I worked in marketing at an engineering company.

I’ve lived in Southern California all my life and in south Orange County for the past 18 years. Before having kids, my husband and I used to spend far too much time on videogames and, for vacations, we took several cruises. Now, we have two children: Oliver is 9, and Emma is 7. We love going to the beach (especially Pismo Beach) and building sandcastles.  I enjoy photography and listening to audiobooks. Since the start of the COVID pandemic, we have explored a lot of local hiking and biking trails. I’m looking forward to being able to do some more traveling again.
